Covered Dish Dinner . . .

Ever get invited to dinner somewhere where you are supposed bring a 'covered dish?" I learned the hard way that food is supposed to be in the covered dish. Never figgered out why people just don't come out and say it has to have food in it.

This recipe was given to me by the lovely & talented Bev (she says I have to say that). It makes a good grape salad. When Cousin Tammy invites me over, she says I have to have it in my covered dish (she always checks before letting me in). I usually put it in a large Pyrex or Corning Ware casserole I have on hand. The first time Tammy couldn't believe I had such a nice dish. Then she couldn't believe I was going to 'eBay' it. I always find similar one at an auction or garage sale. I think I'm ramblin again. Anyway here is the recipe.

2# Green Grapes
2# Red Grapes
1 - 8 oz. Sour Cream (non-fat)
1 - 8 oz. Cream Cheese (non-fat)
1/4 C Brown Sugar (I use 1/8 C Splenda Brown Sugar)
1 C Pecans (chopped)
1 Pkg. Glazed Pecans (chop 'em up a bit)

Blend sour cream and cream cheese with blender till creamy and smooth. Add brown sugar and chopped pecans and mix well. Add grapes and stir to coat. Top with glazed pecans.

I always bring an empty bowl home. I get more invites since I started bringing my grape salad. Some of the invites tell me I have to bring the salad. Hmmmm . . . maybe they want the salad so much that they are willing to put up with me . . . .
