I had a late lunch at the local Wendy's. Had their Southwest Taco salad. I eat a lot of fast food salads. I watched an ambulance pull in. I figured they were stopping for a late lunch too. A few seconds later I watch them pull out with their lights on. Their lunch was going to be even later.
Soon after my salad, I headed toward Defiance. I made a few stops in town on the way to the auction. At Wal Mart I noticed a cart full of empty boxes. Been needin a few of a certain size. The certain size was on the cart. Found the person stocking the shelves and she said to take what I wanted. Of course most of the boxes ended up on the floor even though I was trying to be careful. Finally got them gathered up and back on the cart. No one I knew, noticed me.
When I got to the auction, the parking lot was very full even though I got there about 40 minutes before it started. For some reason the crowd really thinned out fast after the auction began. I thought this was a good omen, meaning less competition for what I wanted. I spotted a few things I wanted and it became a waiting game. There was a box of Pyrxe that was in near mint condition. I went for it and made one bid over my limit. A few more bids were placed before it sold to someone else. I felt pretty disgusted for the rest of the evening.
They had two lines going and there was stuff I wanted in both lines. I was running back and forth trying to keep an eye on the stuff I wanted. And of course the stuff I wanted was about to be auctioned at nearly the same time. I missed out on one lot because I wasn't able to keep close tabs on it. I ran back to the other line and won the item I wanted in that line. I also made a 'spur of the moment' bid on a china chamber pot and won it. Never bid on a chamber pot before. It was in really nice shape and came with the lid. The drawback was that it wasn't marked. I seldom bid on unmarked items unless I am real sure about it. It only cost me $2.00, so I wasn't really upset with myself. While taking it to the truck, a guy offered me $4.00, so I let him have it. I doubled my money real quick. Checked eBay when I got home and I'm glad I sold it. Unmarked chamber pots don't sell very well compared to marked ones.
I brought these two $2.00 boxes home. I spent $6.00 total so my net outlay totaled $2.00. Not too bad. I think should make a few bucks when everything is sold, etc.
When starting back to Bryan, I discovered that I had no tail lights or dashboard lights. That usually means a blown fuse. Wasn't able to remove any fuses to check them, so I had to drive home with my hazard lights on.
It was a day of things going right, then things not going right.
