I put my COCORAHS rain gauge out a few days ago. I brought it in early last winter so it wouldn't get broken by ice. Those rain gauges aren't cheap!! I didn't report any snowfall. Been volunteer weather observer for COCORAHS for over a year. I've reported almost an inch of rain since I put it out. I think there are 4 observers in Williams County now. I was the second. If you click on the state then the county you can see how much rain fell the day before. Click on a station and you can see how what that station reported. Suppose to report in by 8AM each day. Pretty interesting to see how rainfall varies from location to location.
Late last week I purchased a book from the local Goodwill store to sell on Amazon.com. I started to get it ready this PM and noticed a Williams Co. Library sticker on the back. My ever questioning, curious mind said 'hmmmm, I wonder . . . ' So I took it to the library explaining the situation to the clerk. She checked it out and sure enough, it was was reported missing. I can see how it could happen pretty easily. She was happy to get the book back and I'm out a buck and a half.
Saw a bunch of Kildeer over the weekend. Sure sign of spring when you see the Kildeer walking around. A purple finch visited my thistle feeder Sat. Don't see purple finches very often. Lots of Goldfinches every day. No one seems to leave a tip though.
Saw a 'filler' in the newspaper recently. It said, 'Researchers said California has too many Chihuahuas.' I wonder exactly how many are too many . . . how do they determine how many are too many. . . and why does it matter. Sometimes I think I wonder to much . . . Probably paid by TARP money. I mean why use the money for something useful . . . . .
