Has it been windy around here or has it been windy around here today?? Had gusts into the 40's today.
The only way ya could keep a hat on yur head today was to bungie it to on yur chin. Saw a couple big black birds sitting on the ground. Thought they were turkeys at first, but I saw a couple more join them . . . or try to join them, I decided they were buzzards. Don't think wild turkeys fly that well even when it isn't windy. Didn't get any rain to brag about, just a few drops now and then. The heavier showers went to the north.
The early daffodils are in full bloom and I've seen magnolia and dogwood trees in full bloom this week. Hope the wind hasn't blown off too many petals. I feel cheated when the weather shortens the bloom of the spring flowers. Gonna try to shoot some spring flowers tomorrow if the wind doesn't interfere.
Saw a newer SMART car today. They've redesigned the tail lights. Also saw one for sale by owner. Still have that urge to tip them over. Maybe I should be getting some professional help . . .
I was messin around in the back yard yesterday. I looked up to see a boxer type dog slowly 'tip-toeing' through the yard. I say tip-toeing because she was sort of side stepping, keeping a close eye on me. She had a pink collar with a dog tag. Figured she was lost the way she was acting. Tried to talk to her . . . She would stop, sit down and politely listen, but wasn't about to let me get within 50 ft. of her. Same thing happens when I try to talk to human women . . . they listen politely, and keep their distance ignoring everything I say, then go their merry way. Later that evening her owner found her and took her home.
I'm slowly getting the garage in organized . . . getting things where I need them and where I can find them. My dust collection system for the lathe works well. Finally making some decent pens . . . now I'm experimenting with different types of finishes. The pen pen below is made of Cocobolo . . . one of the better ones I've made lately.
I took a photo of each side of the same pen. This one has a decent grain pattern.
I think it has some visual 'pop.' Gotta learn how to photograph them to sell them on-line. That glare has to go. The grain pattern and hardware is gonna 'sell' it, so I'm gonna hafta do some thinkin and experimentation. Once I get the right 'formula,' it will be easy. Think I'm gonna use Etsy.com to sell 'em. They are a primarily a handmade item site.
