The weekly Harper's Findings column in the Ft. Wayne paper had some interesting tidbits that one can live with out this past week . . . Did ya know that earthworms travel in herds??? Never in my wildest dreams have I ever wondered how earthworms travel . . . but now you and I both know . . . Are we better people for knowing??? They also say that China and Nepal have agreed on the height of Mount Everest. I'm sure that agreement makes the earth a bit safer place to live . . .
I was sitting on the deck last evening with my camera waiting for the hummingbirds . . . which were 'no shows' when the downy woodpecker came by for a snack. Shot about a dozen frames . . . This is the best one. No amount of coaxing and bribin got him to turn around.
I zoomed in on a pretty good lookin clump of Gaillardia. I kinda like them and have several clumps here and there. I shot this from my bird waiting spot on the deck with my zoom. I finally got up and shot several frames from a much closer distance. The 'zoom' shot was the best by far.
I turned around and shot a few frames of the coreopsis in the bed behind me. Think this is Early Sunrise, a double petalled variety. I noticed some good lookin Clemantis this AM. I better get the camera out before the rains come this PM.
My cat, Patches T. Cat, has an appointment with the vet for her annual exam in about an hour. I don't think she likes goin there. She is about 15 1/2 yrs old now. Wasn't much of a lap cat when she was younger, but she is now. It seems to be ok if she squirms around till she is comfortable, but if I move a fraction of an inch, I get the "Look" . . . a 30 second or so stare down. Do you have any idea how difficult it is not to move under duress????
