Went to a couple garage sales yesterday mornin. The first was advertised as starting at 9 PM. There were people there loading their cars when I got there a couple minutes before 9. There wasn't much stuff there. Don't know if they were nearly sold out or had little to sell. I think it was the latter. The next sale was tween Stryker and Archbold. A lady was holding a garage sale in her barn, probably cause she didn't have a garage. It was really cold in there. A sharp, cold wind from the north was blowin in. She had it "tarped" off as best she could and had a torpedo heater aimed at her, but I don't think it was makin a big difference. She had a little bit of everything. I bought three old cookbooks. Never bought cookbooks before. One is from the 1969 Bucyrus (OH) Bratwurst Festival. Another has NASCAR driver's favorite recipes and the third is a 1972 Jerome AZ town cookbook. My thinkin is that old, somewhat specialized cookbooks might create some interest. I bought another ball glove. It appears to be a souvenir glove. Might be worth something to a collector . . . or some little kid could get some good use out of it till he/she outgrows it.
Saw this sitting near the entrance to the garage sale in the barn. They start 'em four-wheelin young around here . . .
Tween garage sales I stopped at a gas station for a coffee. I was surprised at the 45 cent price. After the first sip, I understood why it was so cheap. It was incredibly bad, even for gas station coffee !!!
A few days ago I discovered a dollar coin in my pocket change. Someone had apparently given me a dollar coin in change, thinkin it was a quarter. After I got over the rush, I get when winnin even a free lottery ticket, I made a mental note to set it aside. Last evening, I remembered that coin that I apparently didn't set aside and spent somewhere . . . A classic case of easy come, easy go (this is the "Lost Fortune" part of the blog title) . . . Never gonna catch up with Donald Trump at this rate . . .
Spotted this car parked on the street this AM. Any ideas on the make??? It definitely isn't new and has 30 day tags, so the only "new" is to the new owner. I'm thinkin it might be one of those "kit cars" that I used to see advertised in magazines . . . are kit cars still sold ???
