That's right, stick a fork in me, I'm pretty sure, I'm cooked, burned out, whatever. The hot weather has done its job. Last two weeks, I've mowed the rough all five days both weeks. That's a lot very rough ground and back & forth drivin. Don't know if I'm comin or goin or both. Even tried mowin forth & back, but I got the same results. One day I found myself wonderin why butterflies are called butterflies. What do these creatures have to do with butter??? Never did figger come to any type of conclusion . . .
A hydraulic hose broke last Friday as I was goin in for lunch. I had my wing decks up to get through a narrow bridge. I don't usually drive across fairways, but that was my plan that day. Just as I got to the 18th fairway, one of the decks slammed to the ground. My first thought was that a bolt holdin the cylinder in place came out. So I turned around to see if I could find the bolt. That's when I noticed the oil slick. So I turned around again and saw a big spot of hydraulic oil in the grass. I was 15-20' from crossin the fairway. My first hydraulic leak in several years.
The rain percentages are pretty high for the AM, so maybe I'll get a late start or maybe the whole day off. Don't think there will be 5 days of rough mowin unless we get a decent amount of rain. Last time I checked, there were two computer models showin Isaac goin over NW Ohio. Maybe he'll bring a fair amount of rain this way toward the end of the week.
A reader emailed me last week with an answer to what that 'Gizmo' pictured in the previous blog is. It is a cream separator. I'm pretty sure I knew that, but had forgotten that I knew that . . . if ya know what I mean.
A hawk has been hangin around the dead Ash trees on 13. Got a shot of him last week. Wish I would have had my good camera with me that day. It has a larger zoom than my pocket camera.
I was mowin behind the 10 green, mindin my own business, when I glanced up and saw this twine in one of the crab apple trees. I didn't ask questions, I just kept on mowin.
Sold my first pen on Etsy.com yesterday. It is a gold .30 caliber bullet pen with a moose antler body. Sent it to the United Kingdom. Wonder if they have moose there.
