Random Ramblins
Another typical 2009 Monday. I've not had many Mondays that didn't have problems this season. At work early this AM, and while we were waiting for the rain to stop, I said something about not having a week yet this season where the rain didn't cut into work time or the mower break down. Today I had both. Didn't start mowin till about 8:30 and the mower broke down about 11 AM. The blades quit turning. We haven't figured why yet. Everything seems to be working correctly except for the blades not turning. So I got to drive the 5111 the rest of the day, which ended a half hr early due to more rain. Don't care for the 5111. I managed to knock a bench over twice before I could get away from it. That means I got off the mower to move it so I could mow where it was, then got off to set it back up, and then got off that mower to set it up again. It was a first for me. I rarely knock a bench over once per season.
Some of the old classmates from the class of '67 have made comments about it would be nice to get the local people together for a breakfast or lunch. So, about 6 weeks ago, I got the ball rolling. One person was worried that no one would come. I replied that the worst that could happen is that I would have breakfast by myself, which is something that I do a lot anyway. The second worst thing that could happen is some unsuspecting person would have breakfast with just me. If I remember correctly, I think it was my 4th cousin who was worried about me.
A couple of us started calling everyone we knew and told them to come to breakfast last Saturday AM. An even dozen came and I know of 3 or 4 more who probably would have come if it were not for work, vacations, etc. Not bad for a class of 56 students. Last time we tried to have a reunion there weren't enough people to sign up to have it, so we didn't. We're probably going to do this again on a regular basis and hopefully have more people attend now and then.
Got the last half of my garage floor covered with epoxy yesterday. Now I have to wait a week for it to cure before I can move stuff back. It will be a lot easier to keep clean and will be brighter in there. I can't wait. I have some glass and woodturning projects I want to work on this summer. I really miss my basement.
You had to be there to see it and get a laugh or two. This past weekend a Sonic fast food restraunt opened in Bryan. I know of a Sonic in Van Wert and I think there are several in Ft. Wayne. Never heard of them till I came back to these parts. Anyway, there were so many people checking them out that employees were directing traffic. The entrance is off the Wal Mart parking lot. Across the entrance drive to Wal Mart is a McDonald's. Two McDonald's managerial types were standing on their tree lawn looking over at all the people at Sonic's. There may have been one or two cars at McDonald's that didn't belong to employees. The parking lots at Burger King and Arby's across the street were empty too, but no employees were standing outside staring at Sonic's.
Gotta be at the course tomorrow at 6 AM instead of 7. Got a fair sized outing at 8. Don't know if I will have a full day or not. He has been having me come in at 8 till this week. Tomorrow AM is going to be a shock to the system.
