I seem to have a bad case of the summer 'blahs' already. I been mowin , etc. on the golf course since March 5. I'm findin myself hummin, but not to the song playin on the radio. That isn't good . . . I think it is time to make myself download some podcasts to listen to.
I hope the weather report for the next few days is correct. I will miss bein in the hot, humid 90+ degree weather that is predicted. Tuesday is supposed to be more seasonal. Hope we get a decent amount of rain too. Grass is slowin up big time, but is turning brown, makin it difficult to follow my tracks. But on the other hand, if the grass dies out, I'll get some time off to do other summer type stuff.
Took some pics of some flowers in my yard. The top is my night bloomin primose. It blooms quickly at dusk. You can sit there and watch it open. Seems like the blossoms are much larger this year, but it is probably my imagination.
The middle pic is a Knock-out rose. Knock-outs are shrub roses that require little care. Very disease resistant and insects don't bother them much. I have 5 or 6 in front of the house.
I took the bottom pic at the golf course as I was mowin around a pine tree. Have no idea what the name of the 'weeds' are.
This lone thistle was near the edge of one of the natural areas on the course.
We've had some very pleasant days this past week. The puffy clouds over this fairway caught my attention.
I took this early Wednesday morning.
The cottonwoods were thick and disgustin this past week. Took this on Wednesday. I had to stop several times to clear the grill to keep my mower from overheatin. I had to clean the air filter every morning. All the pollen and dust doesn't bother me much, but I always know when the cottonwoods are blowin around. My eyes feel like they are full of sand.
If I don't have mower problems, it takes around 27-28 hours to mow the rough. I was makin really good time this week. Right on schedule. Then with about 2 hours or so to finish on Thursday, I come down with a flat tire. Lost about an hour. Thought I was gonna have a trouble free week . . . Only had one of those this year.
Simon is doin well. When I am at the computer, he likes to hang out and nap in this box on the bookcase. He has grown a lot since he moved in. I'm beginnin to wonder how big he is gonna be. I think we might be talkin a small Maine Coon size Simon soon.
