While logging in, I noticed that this is my 99th post. Gonna have to come up with something new & exciting for my 100th.
Just downloaded Firefox 5.0. It really seems a bit quicker than what I was using. Noticed a couple other differences too. One of the e-news letters I read told me about getting Windows 7 for half price. I decided to order it. Supposed to get it toward the end of October.
Got today off. I managed to finish the rough yesterday. Had to mow about 10 minutes past quitting time and take a short lunch to accomplish it. Last week's hot spell really slowed the growth down. Didn't even have to re-mow the spots that grow fast. If we don't get some rain, I may get a summer break. I've had one every summer I have worked there. Last summer I had a 5 hr two week paycheck. Netted about $30.00. Since I have never 'blown' a whole paycheck, I was trying to think of something to blow it all on. Didn't come up with anything, so it went in the ckg. account with all the others.
While going to mow the rest of 14 in the back corner yesterday, I came upon a good sized deer. Second one I've seen on the course this yr. We did what we always do. We stop and stare at each other till one of us decides to get on with our life. I took a couple photos, but I was too far away to get a decent one. Camera I carry on the mower only has a 5X telephoto lens.
Not much later the barn swallows found/heard me. I think resident swallows have their friends & relatives here for the holiday. At times there were many more than usual darting around me. I think some of the had been partying all night. There were more near collisions tween themselves and with the mower. Some of them just sort of glided beside me at eye level at times. Probably showin off again. Saw one get too close to the ground and hit it. Bet he took a ribbin for that. I wonder if they call it 'grass stains or grass rash' when they do that.
The radio people said that Thursday was National Zip Code day. Wonder where they heard about that. Post office was open and I saw the mail delivery people out and about. I'll have to ask my cousin, the redheaded mail carrier person who delivers mail in the 43577 zip code, about it. She gave me a ride in her right hand drive mail jeep once. Quite an experience even if you subtract her drivin habits. Drivin/riding a right hand jeep could take some gettin used to.
Yesterday those radio people were talking about a new 'air guitar' record. Didn't catch where it happened, but the new record is 801 people playing air guitars at the same time in the same place. A few minutes later, I realized that I was mentally playing an air guitar and sometimes air keyboards and air drums while listening to that station and watching those swallows darting around. Not sure if that was a good thing. Those birds can make ya dizzy. Couldn't actually play that air stuff cause my mowin machine doesn't steer itself. I hope I didn't get reported doing all that stuff at once. It's never good to get reported.
Today is the official first day of the 'dog days of summer.' Never knew there was an official starting date. It was cold mowing all week. I wore gloves, sweatshirt and my wind/rain jacket every day. Yesterday I wore gloves and never took off my sweatshirt or jacket. I did take my gloves off & unzipped my jacket a couple times. Back in the late '70's, I remember painting windows wearing long sleeve flannel shirt in the sun and was cold on the 4th of July. That was when you heard blurbs about a coming ice age. Don't remember hearing about having a tax to prevent it.
Well I think that's enough for now.
