Today's Photos: A Short Walk Around Bryan

I recently read an photography article on getting back your motivation to shoot photos. It said to walk a half mile and take 5 photos of something. Earlier this evening I went to the center of town and started walking. I'm sure I walked more than a half mile and I know I took exactly 17 photos. Some were blurry and some were too much into the sun. There were some I didn't shoot cause I couldn't get the angle I wanted, etc.

I started in the 'Historical District' of town. There are some real nice
renovated Victorian style homes and some being renovated. Some even have the Victorian style flower gardens.

This person has a pump in his yard. I never noticed it before. I drive by it when I go to the golf course and the YMCA. Guess I need to 'hoof it' more often.

The Naked Ladies are in full bloom right now. They seem to be in all the Victorian gardens. They are in the amaryllis family. In the spring they come up, leaf out, then die back to nothing. About this time of year, a bare stalk emerges from the ground and blooms, hence the name Naked Lady.

A little 'washed out' colorwise.

These were under a tree, next to some Hostas.

The bare stems are very visible in the photo.

Bryan is a good baseball town (Defiance plays good baseball too. They have 3 pitchers in the Majors right now.) Bryan has some really great facilities on several levels. This is one of the several batting cages in Garver Park. During the season the cages have pitching machines. Wish I had access to those cages when I was in high school. Probably wouldn't have helped me much. My elbow popped and ached when I threw hard and they didn't have the designated hitter.

The subtle color of these petunias in Garver Park caught my eye.

This lily was in Garver Park also.

These were in Central Park. This park is maybe a quarter acre with gazebos and brick walkways. Can't ID the flowers, but I love the shades of yellow.

While walking by the hospital, a helicopter from Ft. Wayne landed to pick someone up. The Bryan High School marching band was practicing in the park next to the landing zone. I suspect the interruption broke the concentration of everyone.
