Getting up this mornin, I could tell it was goin to be one of those days . . . One of those days where I just gotta get out of and away from the house. The next question to be answered was where to and why. I knew it had to be somewhere I had not been to very many times. The Cooper and I decided to go north to Hillsdale. Thought sure I could find a thrift store of some type to look for something interesting to sell on eBay. On the way I stopped at a garage sale in Pioneer. Found a piece of Pyrex with a pattern that I've never seen in person. Also picked up a corning ware casserole.
Coming into Hillsdale from the east, I saw a sign saying 'Free gun with the purchase of a storage barn.' Thought about takin a picture of the sign, but thought better of it. Hard tellin what free gift I might get if I take a photo without buyin a barn. Been to a couple Saturday morning auctions at the fairgrounds, but never really explored Hillsdale. Seems like a very clean, quaint city. Didn't come across the college. There is a grain elevator about a block from the court house in the middle of the downtown. There are several old, abandoned factories, but they aren't trashy lookin. Didn't see any thrift stores . . . Didn't stop to ask about them either. Decided to head west for a while. Came into a town called Allen. The sign said 'Antique Capitol of Michigan.' Allen is small, but it has plenty of antique shops. I stopped at one that had antiques and crafts. It was a lot like the places you can find in Holmes County in Ohio.
Continuing west out of Allen, I saw this barn. I turned around and came back to shoot it. It was the stone foundation that caught my eye. I had to dodge a lot of truck traffic to get this shot. That is why I don't like to shoot from well traveled highways.
When I got to I-69, I headed south to Angola, then east into Ohio. Got as much done today travelin as I would have stickin around the house.
