That piece of buckeye burl I was tryin to turn into a pen literally exploded on my lathe this PM.  It was what they call a stabilized blank and wasn't cheap.  Stabilized blanks are supposed to be easier to turn.  Oh well, I have to chalk it up to the learning process.  Burled wood isn't easy to work with.

The cat finally gave in and ate her kibble before asking for lunch. No arguing or fussin today. Tomorrow is another day . . .

Both of my auctions sold today.  One is up to $13.50 on a round casserole with a pattern I never saw before.
The high bidder has placed 6 or the 7 bids.  I think I know who wants it.  Be interesting to see if someone comes in at the last second to outbid her.  One can only hope . . .  My cookie cutter sales have all but stopped since eBay change everything.  Can't recall having such a slow time for my cookie cutter sets.

Went over to Goll's Woods for a hike.   I took the scenic route and spotted this old mower in a woods along the road.  I stopped an took a few shots.  Here are a couple of the better ones.

I think it is safe to say that it has been there for a while.

oak tree Goll's Woods

There are some trees in there that one doesn't see anywhere else around here.  I'm always shooting up at some of them.  I finally got a shot that might begin to show their size.  This is on big, tall oak.

Violets 1

I played around with this one.  The leaves on the ground aren't really shades of gray.
