Thursday, May 13, 2010 . . .

Another day of rain, cold & fog. Getting to be the norm lately.

Monday was decent . . . some sun, not a lot of wind, and no rain. Spent the day mowin what didn't get mowed last week due to standing water and soft spots. Mower is steadily gettting worse over- heating wise. In addition to stopping to let it cool, I have to add water every hour and a half or so. They spent a humongous amont of money late last summer to have it fixed . . . It always comes back in worse shape and they keep the money.

Tuesday was a rain out . . . a dark, windy, cold, blustery, disgusting day. A good day for nothing, which is what I accomplished, other than being disgusted all day, cause I couldn't think of anything I could get enthused about doing.

Yesterday, was foggy most of the day. It also got colder as the day went on. I mowed with the Toro, a small mower, cause it is lighter and won't tear stuff up as badly as the heavier mower. Probably got a much mowed as I would have with the big mower. Had my first ever gourmet toasted cheese sandwich for lunch. It consisted of very thick sliced bread, four kinds of cheese, sliced tomatoes that she put on the grill. Don't know if they are considered grilled or what . . . She also put some kind of dressing on it. It was a good sandwich. Told her I'd write home about it if I liked it. I fibbed . . . I'm bloggin about it. Said she makes at least a couple almost every day. People having grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch at the country club . . . Anyway I took the big mower out after lunch to mow some hopefully drier areas. After about my usual hour and a half, I stopped to fill the radiator and it started real sudden like rainin pretty hard. The boss was fertilizing greens and had just filled his fertilizer bin when it started . . . wet fertilizer doesn't spread well and it isn't fun to chip out of the bin. It was foggy enough that one couldn't the rain comin.

The big news of the week, so far, is that they found a rough mower. They bought it and went to Massillon to pick it up yesterday. Don't know how they came up with the money to pay for it, but havin a bank president on the board probably helped. Things are a lot tighter than last year. Very few people on a set schedule . . . mostly as needed. They even doubled the price of the pop machine to 50 cents. I just hope the thing is reliable! It will be nice to be able to mow and not worry about engine temps, oil and gas consumption, oil leaks and pieces fallin off of it . . . though that hasn't happened for a couple summers. That mower was trouble from the first week they had it. Now I will hafta put up with them telling me for the rest of the summer, at least, how they went out of their way to buy a new mower for Mike, cause they want me to be happy . . . I'm just hopin it has a good seat. Probably be Monday before I use. The weather people aren't too optimistic for any balmy, sunny, 75 degree days for a while. They put out a flood watch for everywhere around here, not just around the rivers yesterday . . . don't recall one of those since I've lived here. Got another half inch overnight and expecting 1-3 this pm and night and possibly more in those local areas they always mention. I may get a call to work tomorrow, if the high winds, hail and flood water do a lot of damage. It is always 'fun' to clean up after a storm . . .
