Wednesday Garage Sales . . .

There were two garage sales in Bryan today. I went to both. Both were listed to start at 9 AM, but we both know that means around 8-8:30. Got to the first one around 8:30 . . . nothing interesting there, so it was on to the other one. It was a three family sale in one of the newer upscale developments. I got there at about 8:45. There must have been over 20 vehicles on each side of the street waiting for the garage door to go up. Didn't know what to expect merchandise-wise, but suspected lots of toys and kids clothes due to the age of the neighborhood. Figgered there would be a mad rush when the garage door went up. I had my camera ready . . . I was right. Thought I got a great shot of blue-haired ladies running, younger women pushing anyone near them and even the older, fat guy using a cane keeping up with everyone. Loved it when he jabbed that lady in the back . . . Thought it would be a great photo for the blog showing my faithful reader what I have to go through at these sales. I blew a perfectly good photo . . . I had the video mode on instead of the photograph mode. Have about 2 seconds of video of everyone getting out of their cars and rushing the garage. The rest of the video shows the inside of my truck as I was putting my camera down. Very clear video, but I'm not posting it cause I don't want anyone to know I do dumb stuff like that . . . and who is going to believe you when you try tell someone about the dumb stuff I do anyway. I probably could have used MS Moviemaker to lift a still off the video, but I've never used Moviemaker and haven't been in the mood to learn anything about a new (to me) program. And that is why there is no picture today . . . That's my alibi . . . and I'm stickin with it!!!

After putting the camera down, I went to the garage to see what was left. Had to step over a couple trampled 'victims' lying in the drive and one in the grass, but being a hardened garage saler, I didn't stop to see if they were ok. Nothing interesting at this sale either except for a couple aluminum baseball bats a crummy little kid had grabbed. Thought about tripping or bumping him hard enough that he would drop at least one of the bats, but I noticed his mom had a tattoo. Tattooed women are pretty common nowadays, but I'm still pretty leery of them . . . I'm just not sure of them, if you know what I mean, so I decided against muggin the little kid.

After that sale I decided to visit the local grocery. The Goodwill store is in the same plaza, so I dropped in there to see what they had. Spotted an aluminum softball bat in a box right away, so I grabbed it. Only $2.00. I listed it for $10. Someone has 'bookmarked' it already. Last time I listed a Goodwill aluminum bat, it lasted less than a day.

I'm thinkin I'll take a pass on the Thursday sales and go to Edgerton on Friday. They are having a townwide sale. Next weekend Lake Seneca up north is having their community garage sale. I like the community sales. I can cover a lot of sales quickly and sometimes do well.
