Outsmarted By A Couple . . .

I hate to admit it, but I was outsmarted by couple of those little round white mushrooms . . . twice . . . on the same day!!!

musheroom

From a relatively short distance, wouldn't you think this is a golf ball, especially when you are on a golf course???

Anyway the first time, I spotted what I thought was a lost golf ball a couple swaths to my right.  I usually pick them up when I see them, cause sometimes I forget about them on the 'turn around.'  I figger that if ya don't pick 'em up, its soon gonna be like tryin to walk on marbles out there.  I was off the mower when I realized it was just a mushroom havin fun with me.  The second time it was directly in front of me.  I took a good close look.  I decided this is the real thing . . . I thought I could see the dimples.  I was bendin down to pick it up when I realized it was a wrinkled mushroom.  I should have took a pic of it.  It would have fooled you too, but I kicked it and mowed over it.

I have been seriously tired this week.  The cool, high 40s/low 50's AM's and the 70 to 80 degree PM's are takin their toll.  Everyone is feelin it.  Just takes time to get used to the weather change.

Heard a radio commercial this AM about who needs a 23 speed blender to chop onions.  Didn't catch what was bein advertised, but agreed that 23 speeds would be an overkill when it comes to chopped onions.

Tuesday was great.  I finally replaced the battery in my toothbrush and they put newly sharpened blades on my mower.  Wednesday wasn't great.  That was the day the mushrooms were funnin with me.  Then I brushed up against a pine tree and got needles all the way down into my underwear.  Needles in you undies is quite disgustin.  I was on the part of the course where ya just can't stop mowin and remove the needles.  The neighbors and police frown upon that sort of thing.  I ended up makin a special trip to the clubhouse to remove them.  It wasn't so bad after that.

A bloomin thistle and a yellow wildflower growin on the edge of one of the ponds.

The rust is really bad this year.  There are orange spots out there.

The is what my mower looked like at lunch yesterday.

And this is what the engine looked like.  I wonder what my lungs look like.  Rust is a harmless lawn fungus caused by weather conditions and lack of nitrogen.

I have today off.  First Friday in a while.  The boss called a while ago sayin someone is treatin the greens people to a special luncheon.  So I get a free lunch today.
