Word of the day is 'Sternutation.' Anyone know what it is? Anyone . . . Anyone???? Sternuation is a sneeze or the act of sneezing. There now, aren't you glad you tuned in today. I have no idea who or what type of people go around sternuating instead of sneezing . . .
Yesterday was my ten year colonoscopy. Tuesday PM, I began tryin to drink the 3 liters of that repulsively vile tastin stuff. Last February I gave up diet pop cold turkey. After a day or two I didn't miss it at all. I have tried it a couple times since then and don't like it at all. I wonder how I got myself hooked on it in the first place. It reminds me a lot of how that vile stuff they made me drink Tuesday. I don't drink regular pop either, because it has too much sugar in it. Took me about an hour and a half to get it down, but I did it.
I was hungry all day Tuesday, because Monday evening was the cutoff time for eating anything. Tuesday evening I tried to watch to kill time. Needless to say I didn't watch any of the food channels. When a food type commercial came on I switched channels hopin for a different type of commercial. So I gave up and went to bed. I surprised myself be getting to sleep right away. I wasn't expecting a good night sleep, figgerin I would be on the 'jittery' side. The weather people were expecting some strong storms during the night. The first time the weather radio went off, I was sleepin really good and thought it was time to get up. I was wrong. it was only 12:30. After that the radio went off about hour and a half. Needless to say I did not sleep well or really get any rest.
So I get up at 6, week from hunger and just plain worn out. Didn't get any strong wind or hail but did get about 1.85" of rain.
This is what the backyard looked like. I have a catch basin back there that drains a few lots on either side of it. This happens every time there is a quick downpour. Please excuse the shakey photography. I was very tired, hungry, a bit jittery and gettin pretty grouchy about the morning's events.
My ride picked me up and delivered my to the local hospital. They said I would be able to go home around 10:30. While they were preppin me, askin my name every 10 minutes or so and askin why I was there, they told me the procedure was scheduled for 9 AM. They hook you up with an IV for this. They nice lady had a hard time gettin that vile needle into my vein. She said I had good veins, but it was wrigglin around. They always say I have good veins, but the wrigglin part is something new. I guess they don't like needles either. It took a while to get me hooked up. I must have lost my turn, cause they wheeled me in to the room at 10:10. I laid there staring at the ceiling and curtain for over 3 hours.
When I got to the operating room, I recognized one of the nurses. She is the wife of my boss at the golf course. I asked her name to make sure, then I introduced myself and told her I really like the sloppy joe sandwiches she would make a couple, three times each summer for the guys. I figger it doesn't hurt to let the compliments fly when one is in this situation. I swear I saw her put on a big rubber apron and elbow length gloves just before they put me under. Those sloppy joes really are good, and I was glad I reminded her after I saw her 'get up.'
I guess it was a 'good scope.' Nothing was said about another appt. with the surgeon, so I guess I'm good for another 10 years. In my packet of discharge info. were some pics of my colon. If you really want to see them, I'll email them to you. Don't want to scare off any first time readers by posting them. I didn't get photo the last time and I have no idea why they gave me pics this time. Maybe the surgeon's hobby is photography. Not really anything I'm gonna hang on the wall or put in the family scrapbook.
I finally got to eat something yesterday PM. Today, I still feel worn out. I felt the same way last time.
