Barns

I like to photograph old buildings, especially old or unusual barns. The older 'traditional' post & beam barns are becoming more and more scarce. I'm told that my Grandfather Browns helped build quite a few of these barns in his younger days.

He is one of those working at the top of this barn. He preferred to work 'high' so he didn't have to worry about anything falling on him. I definitely did not inherit his preference for working 'high.' Some days I feel 'too tall.' I believe this barn was built for Adam Wolfrum west of Ayersville.

There used to be a lot of the 'Chew Mail Pouch" barns. This one is south of Bryan.

Once in a great while you come across a barn like this one. Some 'smart aleck' farmer went to a lot of expense and work to make people look twice. This barn is on Rt. 20 near Woodville OH.

This barn is very unusual. It is north of Bryan. The farmer's wife discovered she had a talent for painting. I believe it is of castle in Switzerland or Germany. She painted it on 4' X 8' sign boards and mounted them on the barn.

Used to see 'See Rock City' on barns. Anybody know where Rock City is or been there?
