Went garage salin today with the Cooper. I took the Cooper cause it is small, very maneuverable and quick. For some reason I was thinkin I was goin to war with those dreaded, little blue-haired ladies with their big white Fords and Chevy, I'm positive that they get together to plot how they are going to get in my way and bug me. It wasn't crowded at all, actually very laid back . . . Garage salin in Bryan is a lot more intense. Anyway, Ayersville had a community wide garage sale. They had 26 listed. Ayersville is where I grew up. Don't think I did too bad. Got 2 aluminum little league bats and an aluminum high school bat for a grand total of 7.50. Should get around $10 each when I list them next spring. Picked up a Rawlings left hand ball glove for 50 cents. Couldn't see anything wrong with it. Not that 'used.' Haven't measured it, but it is probably a 9 or 9 1/2 incher. Left hand gloves go quick. That will get a another 10 spot easily. The only thing I'm not sure about is the tinker toys. Not sure how common they are. The can looked old and the lid was kinda rusty, so I took a chance on it.
One lady had my 'number.' She was all but sold out and it was before 11 AM. She was happy about it. Didn't blame her, but I wasn't going to tell her. Instead I said 'You probably had everything I'm lookin for and you didn't wait till I got here.' She very sympathetically, actually waaaay too sympathically, said she was sorry and said I would have to continue to muddle my way through life, through the garage sales, it would be hard, but she was sure I could handle it. I'm pretty sure she didn't know me . . . very few people left that I grew up around . . . People I grew up with moved away too. May she is a 'wise guy' type too. I'll be ready for her next time she has a sale. Lives in Cathy B's house, which is next to Mary C's old house. Mary is my third cousin.
Saw a wild turkey walking along the side of the road. Me drivin by him didn't faze him a bit . . . Now if it had been turkey season . . . The wheat fields are a bit further along than they are around here. One field had wagons and a truck staged, but I didn't see any evidence of a combine. Probably later today or tomorrow, for sure.
I was right about the Edgerton wind being a micro burst. The NWS agreed with me and estimated winds of around 100 mph. Wind like that will loosen shingles every time. I'm hearin bits and pieces of severe t-storms possibilities Sat and Sun. Seems like every weekend lately . . .
Tomorrow is the Lake Seneca community garage sale. It is intense. The Cooper is goin with me for sure. Lots of people, especially those little blue-haired types. Gotta grab stuff quick and hold tight so they don't take it away from ya . . . I was thinkin Lake Seneca was just across the MI state line. It isn't. It is in the same county I live. Must have it mixed up with Lake Su-Ann. There are several lakes up there that have garage sales. Did you know that Nettle Lake is the only natural lake in OH. Someone told me that. Nettle Lake is only a very few miles from Seneca Lake. Indian Lake and Grand Lake (aka Lake St Mary's) were built as canal reservoirs. I think that is enough Ohio geography and history for now . . .
