They say ya can't teach old dogs new tricks, but this old dog learned a new trick the other day. My old cat, Patches T. Cat taught me one. I've had her for almost 16 yrs. I figger she is about 16 yrs. old now, but the human/cat age calculator I read about recently says she is 80 yrs old. Can't believe that livin with me would age one that fast . . .
She always has always been a bit on the vocal side about things. We've had some pretty interesting conversations about Bill Clinton and his girl friend and even heated go rounds about G. Bush . . . I don't agree with her about everything being Bush's fault . . .
During the last year or so she has started yowling about what seems like everything. Why she waited this long to start yowling, I don't know. Maybe its an age thing. . . Wonder If I'll be yowlin when I'm 80 . . . Sometimes when I get up to see what is goin on, she will be sitting there looking as innocent as, well as a cat can look . . . other times she will smirk and run to hide, feelin pretty smug about suckerin me into comin into another room. Other times she will look like I'm supposed to know what the problem is before she has to tell me about it . . .
A few days ago, I saw Patches walk out of the bathroom. When she saw me, she started yowlin really loud. I knew that askin what the problem is would not get me a straight answer, so I got up to check out the bathroom. She led me to the shower, sat down and glared at me. Then I membered that she likes to 'lick the shower dry' after I'm done with it. I think she prefers lickin the shower over lappin from her water bowl. Since the shower was dry, I turned on the water for a bit, then shut it off. Sure enough, I was right . . . she then proceeded to 'lick the shower dry.'
I had a bathtub shower at the other house with those glass bypass doors. When her water dish went dry, she would rattle those doors till I filled her water dish. She was good at rattling them pretty loud. When she wants brushed she leads me to her brush or sometimes sits down beside it and yowls. Makes me think she needs to get out and be on her own . . . but then she is 80 . . .
This mornin as I was walkin out of the local Circle K, I noticed a van with 2 Irish Setters in the front seat. Nothin really unusual about that . . . Then I noticed two more Setters in the second seat . . . Upon further examination of the situation, I noticed 2 more Setters sitting in the third seat . . . And yes, there were "I 'heart' Iris Setters" window stickers . . .
