I took this pic on Tuesday of this week. Some of my daffodils around the house are showing their color. They still haven't opened completely. Even the grass is showing a bit of green. The last couple days have been in the 40's.
I tried to clean up some flower beds Tuesday. It was nearly 80 degrees, but very windy. All my clippings wanted take a tour of the neighborhood via the wind. So, I didn't spend much time on that job. I really need to get my miniature roses uncovered, but I need a calm day. I covered them with straw this year. I did run the rest of the gas out of the snow blower. I haven't looked at the lawn mower yet. With the 1.6" of rain yesterday and overnight and when the temperatures stay in the 50's & 60's for a couple days, I will be using it. Quite a change from last spring, when I was mowing the first part of March.
First thing yesterday, I headed off to a neighboring town to check out a hardware store going out of business sale. I came away with a Helly Hansen rain jacket which I will be using as a rain jacket/windbreaker. Got 30% off, a good deal. The closed bid auction of the golf course ends next week, and we've heard there are at least two groups that may be bidding. I expect to be back in the mower seat the first part of May and will be using that jacket.
I stopped that the local Walmart hoping to find some smaller boxes. Talk about luck . . . The clerk had a cart full of just the size I was hoping for!! I came home with a good supply of that size. Yesterday was as good of a day as Tuesday was disgusting.
This morning I headed to another nearby town to a church sponsored garage sale. There was nothing there for me, so I made the rounds of the thrift stores. I found some interesting items. One of them is a Hershey's S'mores maker. Doesn't look like it has been out of the box. I have never heard of such a thing. There are a few on eBay, but they aren't exactly a 'hot' item. I'll hafta push the Hershey's memorabilia angle. I found a set of 4 mugs and 4 8" plates that look like billiard balls. I bought them because they were unusual. Haven't decided how I will list them yet. Right now I leaning toward selling them separately. There are only a couple listed and they are selling.
A couple garages sales tomorrow and possibly an auction on Saturday.
Why does today seem like a Friday???
