It has been a "forsithia-less" spring. Usually the town is loaded with those bright yellow flowers. I have on spotted only one bush with maybe six blooms on it. They decided it was too cold to bloom and went straight to leaves. They say you are supposed to put the pre-emergent crabgrass killer down with the forsithias bloom. Hafta wait & see if there is a lot of crabgrass this year.
Saw a license plate the other day that caught my eye. It was "9000000." No letters, just numbers. Wonder if it was a vanity plate. Don't see many plates with just numbers with no spacing.
Spotted these Caterpillars working adjoining fields recently. I'm wonderin if they are owned by the same farm, since they seem identical. I'm also wonderin how many hundreds of thousands dollars of equipment was out there.
eBay customers amaze me every so often. I sent a Kitchenaid whistling tea kettle to Brazil. The postage was about $38.00. Almost three times what they paid for the kettle itself. Then there was the Canadian that paid well over $20.00 in postage for an $8.00 casserole. Before it got to her, she wanted to know if I had another just like it . . . I do but I don't have a lid for it. Lids have been hard to find lately. One of the days, I will hit the mother lode of lids. Another lady waited till there was less than 30 minutes left on a stoneware pan. I was gonna re-list it for $5.00 less. I priced it high in the beginning on purpose, figuring I could lower the price next time around. She had no way of knowing my thinkin and I'm still chucklin to myself on that one. I guess I think I got on over on her . . . .
The big news of the week occurred last weekend. Norfolk and Southern sponsored a 'Choo Choo" train ride from Elkhart IN to Bryan and back on Saturday and again on Sunday. It was for Norfolk and Southern employees and their families. They had around a dozen passenger cars.
Those are 69" drive wheels.
Lots of black smoke! I'm wonderin when the EPA is gonna require catalytic convertors on these steam engines . . .
