We cut a lot of grass today. We even traded of lunch times to keep certain mowers goin. At the moment I have mixed feelins about the new rough mower. Yesterday was the first day it was used. Got stuck one time. I didn't get on it till noon. It got stuck one time this AM. I got stuck twice. The last time just before 4 PM. I was the only one left, so it is sittin in some mud beside the 6th fairway. I'm kinda disgusted with myself for gettin stuck, but I got stuck in nothing . . . The mower is just too heavy for the conditions. The course has dried out a lot the past couple days, but there is still a lot of standing water. I just checked my rainfall records. Since April 20 I have dumped 7.25 inches out of my rain gauge. That is a lot of moisture !! I don't think that mower is a what you could call a 'mudder' anyway. Don't think the John Deere would have gotten stuck, but it won't hold water in the radiator long enough to find out anyway . . .
Me and another guy were going out to 'relieve' the boss and Lynn, out lengendary mechanic after we had lunch. A group of daily 'seniors' --old guys-- flagged us down. One of the guys who had to be old enough to be my grandfather wanted to know why the 'old guy' --he was referring to me--wasn't on the rough mower. Said his 'worm burnin' drives go further when the grass is cut. . . We told him that I got away and Matt was takin me back to my mower, under duress . . . That seemed to placate him . . . As long I was gonna be mowin . . . I'm wonderin if his wife is one of those dreaded blue-haired ladies that are out to get me . . .
Radar is showin a big, dark green cloud comin this way . . . I'm pretty sure I'll have more rain to dump in the AM. They've been mentioning the possibility of an all day rain tomorrow . . . At least we got all the seed heads cut. At this rate we're gonna be dealin with cat tails all over the place . . .
