Checked out a few local garage sales this AM. A few of those dreaded little, blue-haired ladies were at one sale and one of the got in my way while I was tryin to leave. Have seen any of them the past few weeks. Maybe it has been too hot for them.
I hit the jackpot at one sale. There were 4 baseball gloves marked $1 and a catcher's mitt marked $1.50. This is the first catcher's mitt I've seen at a garage sale. All were in good condition and the price was 'give away.' I took the mitt and 3 of the gloves to the 'money table.' Told the nice lady that I'd take these off her hands. She said "that's good, take the gloves off my hands." I didn't realize what I had said, but when I did, I said "thanks, its a gift." Maybe you had to be there for that one . . . I often say "I'll take these off your hands" at garage sales.
Anyway, one of the lady's sons was sitting there and recognized his ball glove. He mumbled that it wasn't for sale and told mom he still uses it. I told him that it was a good thing that he was helping . . . Mom quickly agreed and told him things happen when he doesn't help. He was still mumblin when I left.
I have around a half dozen bats and another half dozen gloves for next spring already.
