October 25, 2010 . . .

Jeeezzz, look at today's date . . . two months till Christmas . . . and we haven't even got through Halloween yet . . .  Seems like Christmas comes earlier and earlier every year, doesn't it ??  Raise your hand if you started Christmas preparations . . .  That's what I thought.

There was what I thought was a craft show at the local fairgrounds this past weekend.  Turned out to be more of a flea market.  Oh, well . . . There was only one booth selling socks.

When I drove into the fairgrounds, someone in a pickup truck was 'walking' their dog.  The dog was walkin and the driver was holding the leash through the open window.  Maybe the owner isn't able to get around very well.  I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.  Every so often I see this guy on a bicycle 'walking' his dog.  The dog is an assistance dog with the leash and sign.  Never have been able to figger that one out.

Had a torrential trace of rainfall yesterday . . . I say 'torrential' cause all .02" fell in those extra large, heavy drops.  I figger one or two of them fell into my rain gauge and filled it to the .02 mark.  I've dumped .32' so far this month . . . and that includes the three days of trace amounts.  Exactly half that total fell back on the third.

Are ya ready for the 'big blow' scheduled for tomorrow??  The weather people put out high wind advisories last evening.  Expectin 25-35 mph sustained winds with 50-60 mph gusts now and then.  The radio stations are sayin 'lots of wind, rain, maybe downpours and lightning.'  Could be an exciting weather day!

Saw people out rakin leaves this AM.  Must be clearin space for their neighbor's leaves blow to tomorrow.  If I were them, I'd wait till the wind is over, then rake, unless they get lucky and all the leaves keep goin.  That happened to me the first or second fall I lived here.  The trees in back seemed to drop their leaves all at once, then there was a day of strong wind and they all blew away.  I was left with nothing to rake or mulch.
