Introducing . . . . Simon

simon 5

A few days ago, I decided the house was too quiet, so I visited the Fort Defiance Humane Society and came home with Simon.  Simon is about 7 months old and had been residing in his FDHS cage for approximately 2 months. He is a domestic short hair tabby.  He has the 'M' on his forehead with a strongly striped tail and legs.

There were two cats that showed an interest in me.  I was holding the other when Simon started fussin and had both paws through his cage door reachin for me.  Even though I wasn't real sure I wanted a male cat, I decided that if he wanted out of that cage that bad, I would figger out a way to make it work.  The workers told me that he was a cuddly little guy and they were right.  They also said that when he decides it is time for some attention, he won't take no for an answer.  They are right on with that one too.

On the way home he was huddled against the back of his carrier.  I began talkin to him.  He moved to the front and layed against the door the rest of the trip home.  Seemed to take the ride ok.  I'll hafta take him for another ride and see if he likes it.

Here he is a step outside of his cage lookin around.  For whatever reason, he sniffed everything, even the door frames as high as he could stretch.  Within a half hour we were playin 'string' and a few minutes later I was rubbin his belly.  He really likes those belly rubs.

My bed is his #1 place to hang out.  He isn't afraid to rearrange things to be comfortable.

Didn't take him long to find the warm, sunny spots.  Gotta rearrange the mat to make things comfortable.

Lookin through the patio door or sittin on the back of this chair  to see what's goin on out there is a developing past time.

Hangin on to me is another favorite.

Didn't take long for Simon to understand 'no.'  I watched him hop up on the kitchen table.  I picked up my spray bottle, sayin 'no' and chased him under my bed.  Did you know that cats snort?  I heard three snorts while he was under there.  A couple days later, while lookin at me, he hopped up on the table again.  Didn't snort this time, but he got sprayed, chased and yelled at.  Since then, he backs off when I say 'no.'  I will be keepin the spray bottle handy for a while.

I think this arrangement is gonna work out ok.
