Auction
I attended one of the few auctions I've been to this winter yesterday AM. It was in Edon OH. Lots of stuff--coins, furniture and household goods.. When I saw all the stuff and only 2 auctioneers, I knew it could be a long day and it was. I saw some familiar faces, the "book guy," a couple antique dealers and some regulars who probably sell on eBay like myself.
The short, gray-haired lady with the red glasses was there too. She is wearing purple glasses now so I will have to call her the purple glasses lady from now on. She is something else -- very interesting to watch. If she sees someone pick something up out of a box, she is there rooting through it too. She doesn't hesitate to push people out of the way to get where she is going. I haven't seen her crawl under a table yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if she did. One time she even pushed the person recording the sales to get a better view. She should get smacked with the clipboard when she does that. Sometimes she roots through the box of stuff the auctioneer is trying to sell. When she "wins' a box of stuff, it isn't unusual for her to take everything out to look at taking up space and making lots of noise doing it. Seems like she has to touch everything. She's worse than a little kid. Kind of entertaining though as long as she isn't pushing me around.
I only bought one lot, a couple of old eggbeaters. I haven't researched them yet, but they have no plastic gears, have wire handles and are stamped made in the USA, so I know they are pretty old. There was a couple other things I was interested in but I became very tired waiting around (4 hrs) and went home. I ended up napping a couple hrs. Sometimes auctions are a marathon. I sometimes get a lot of stuff cheap by waiting everyone out. Better luck next Saturday. There haven't many household goods auctions this winter.
