Another edition of misc ramblins comin at ya.
Three days off and 4 auctions. Haven't been to an auction since early summer. Made up for it this weekend. The first was last Thursday evening. Saturday I went to a 9 AM auction. Nothing interesting there, so I went to the 10 AM auction. Nothing outstanding at this one either, but I hung around for a while.
I paid a dollar for 15 of these things. A friend thinks they are a craft item from the 60's & 70's. I don't recall ever seeing anything like these, but it was a long time ago. About the only 'crafty' thing about them is picking out the lace to sew on the edge of the print and mounting it in the wooden hoop. Anybody have any ideas what these things are called??
Earlier this PM I went my 4th auction. I didn't stay too long. When the auctioneer announces that family members are going to be bidding also, one probably isn't going to get any bargains. Too much sentimental bidding going on, if you know what I mean.
Sounds like some heavy weather on the way. The weather reports were all over the place this past week, but everyone is starting to agree today. Possibly severe t-storms tonight and high winds for a couple days. The NWS posted a high wind advisory this AM predicting 20-30 mph winds tonight, with 25-35 tomorrow and gusts up to 40 mph. Temperatures are predicted to be in the high 50's all week. Hope the boss sends me home if it gets that windy. There are some trees in poor shape that I don't like to spend much time mowing around when it is relatively calm.
Finally tightened the hinge on one of the kitchen cabinet doors this AM. Been loose since I moved here 5 yrs ago. Had to make a special trip to the garage for the screwdriver. Really put myself out. Don't know what made me finally fix it.
I was wandering around Lowe's recently. A lady was walking around with a yellow lab. The dog was wearing his 'Assistance Dog In Training' vest. Don't think he had been in training very long. He wanted to look at everything and check it out. A few minutes later I heard him bark. This occurred several times. Decided I had to see what was making him bark. Lowe's had a halloween display at the end of an aisle. It was a witch about 4 ft. tall. When someone walked by, it would start moving and laughing, etc. -- kinda like those talking Christmas trees and singing fish things that one sees at almost every garage sale. The handler and dog were a couple aisles away, but that dog had to tell the witch to 'shut up' every time she laughed. I had to side with the dog this time. He would sit down or lay down when told, but would not let that witch have the last laugh.
At the local gas station, where I buy my sophisticated, designer blend of decaf coffee, I noticed some guy had parked his bicycle with his keys hanging on the handlebars. I've noticed that a lot of people leave their keys in the ignition around here, but this is the first time I've seen a ring full of keys hanging on an old bicycle. Guess I haven't seen everything yet.
