Noticed that this is post #150. Don't know if that is worth mentioning or not, but mark it mentioned.
The boss called a few minutes ago and said to hold off coming in till the wind settled some. I didn't have a problem with that. I could hear the wind all night. My house has 6" walls and is very well insulated, so I knew it was blowin hard. The wind advisory has been extended till 11 AM. Hoping to get some grass cut before then. Maybe he heard me saying I was thinking about getting one of those Snuggie Blankets they advertise on TV. I was telling one of the guys I would get one if they were plastic lined to break the wind. Leopard skin pattern isn't me though, I think the tiger stripes would be more "becoming" of me.
I think the weather went from September to November, skipping October. Yesterday, even the other guys were grumbling about being cold. They don't know how easy they have it. They mow maybe 2 hrs at something, then do something else. Myself and the fairway mowin guy are out there all day and only get colder and colder. It is like sitting on a lawn chair all day in the middle of a field.
Summer was cold too. I didn't wear shorts at all this summer and I can remember only a very few days not wearing a long sleeve shirt in the AM. Usually took my rain jacket/windbreaker with me and ended up wearing it for a while many AM's. Didn't run the air conditioner much though. On the "bright" side of things, if we pay tax on the weather, it will solve everything . . . RIGHT! ! ! ! ! !
Got an email from a happy cookie cutter customer recently. She bought the farm animal set, telling me that she and her boys were going to enter some animal cookies in the Virginia State Fair. They got a Blue Ribbon for their work. She helped the boy mix the dough and they frosted them. She made a box resembling a barn. Don't get many follow-up emails like that one.
Got an email recently from a repeat customer. He bought a state of Ohio flag several months ago. It seems that someone stole both his American flag and the state flag. His little son was so upset that he was replacing both flags. That is really low, stealing flags. I like repeat customers, but not under those circumstances.
Went to an auction last Sat. Couldn't believe the parking spot I got. Someone was leaving as I got there and I was able to park along the road in front of the house. It was windy, cold and drizzly damp and there was nothing interesting. Hated to leave, giving up such great parking spot. Sometimes the little things count a lot.
Have you seen the Carbonite commercial on cable yet? Carbonite is an on-line data back-up company. The commercial starts out showing a college girl using her laptop on the lawn. She hears a mower coming. She shuts the laptop and gathers up her books, forgetting or dropping the laptop. Then this orange wide area mower (possibly a Jacobsen) comes around the bush and chops the laptop to bits. The driver has the same bored, blank look that I have most of the time. I could have done that commercial in one take. How does one get in to commercials? The Snuggie Blanket people could do one with me mowin with an award winning warm smile.
