The Week In Review . . .

The past week was seasonably warm for a change. Got into the high 60's a couple days. No all day eye watering, nose runnin cold. Looked outside last Sunday AM and there was a very hard thorough frost. I was glad to see it. It will slow the grass down quite a bit. I got myself real tired of mowin this year. Is it possible to be terminally bored?

Back in August the rough mower started overheating again. The boss sent it to the local JD dealer for repair. The sent it back a couple weeks ago saying it was fixed. Our legendary mechanic, Lynn, mowed with it a couple hours. It is worse than when we sent it to them. We sent it back to them. In the meantime we have been renting a similar mower from the same company. The boss told me earlier this week to get the rough mowed, cause Thursday, he was sending it back to them. He is pretty disgusted with the dealer dragging its feet "fixing" our mower and running the rent up on theirs. The dealer we bought it from couldn't fix it, but didn't charge for the mower we used. The rough has been mowed for the last time this season. I usually work into Nov., close to Thanksgiving. Don't expect to work a whole lot the rest of the season, I'm 'on call.' Ok with me. Can't wait to see what I mow with next year. Be surprised if it is green.

Used my Mop 'N 'Glo on the kitchen floor last weekend. What a difference!

When I sell something on eBay, I always send a 'heads up' email saying the purchase has been sent with tracking numbers, etc. I sign it Cousin Mike, cause I go by Cousinmikesbasement on eBay. Sometime I get a thank you note and sometimes I don't. Well I got a thanks signed 'Cousin Bob.' Just what the world needs, another guy trying to be funny.

The shop is located at the intersection of Co. Rd. D and Co. Rd. 10. Yesterday AM, there were soybeans all over Co. Rd. D. The beans started just south of Montpelier and went to a farm several miles SE of the shop. Somebody didn't get something closed completely. It was so bad that the county highway dept. sent their broom to clear off the roadway. I'm sure the job took several hours. Don't know if it was a truck or one of those big grain wagons that lost it's load. Probably have more beans than grass to mow along the road next year.

Heard about another out of the ordinary spill. Some guy had one of those 450 gallon polyethelyene water tanks on his truck. It was full of water. For some reason, it decided to split open while he was drivin down the road. If there was someone tailgating behind him, I'll bet it cured the tailgater -- well for maybe a couple weeks.

Next post I'll have some photos. I have a bunch, but haven't been in the mood to sort through them, etc.
