Week's Highlights . . .

Was going to post a photo, but for some reason I'm having technical difficulties. I suppose I should have tried another photo just to see if something wrong with the photo in question, but I been feelin lazy all day.

Finally changed the clock in my truck today. I noticed the time finally changed on my atomic clock. For some reason I changed the Cruiser's clock last Sunday. Some years I don't change the clock at all. I don't drive the Cruiser much. I still have a couple radio clocks in the house to change. How are you coming with all the clock changin????

Monday AM the boss told me to fire up the dreaded 5111 and go shred leaves. For those of you who have forgotten or never knew about the 5111, I tell you. The 5111 is the former rough mower. I used to have 3 decks and cut an 11' swath. The two outter decks quit working and they decided to remove them. It is the backup rough mower and it is used as a last resort. For some reason it doesn't turn to the left well. Left turns are long sweeping turns. Right hand turns are more normal. UPS drivers aren't supposed to make left hand turns. Takes too long. Learned about that tidbit of info from a History Channel about UPS. It might be a good training vehicle to break UPS drivers of making those left turns. While I'm on UPS drivers, Tuesday of this week when it was about 42 degrees, I saw a driver making deliveries wearing those brown shorts. I'm mowing fairways, bundled up and getting cold. At least he can warm up tween stops. Where was I? Oh, the 5111. It was pretty cold Sunday night and there was water on the seat from the recent rain. The water had about a quarter inch of ice on it. I demanded to know who neglected to plug in the seat warmer, but everyone got dumb real quick. After removing the ice and drying the seat and decided my complaining was gettin me no where, I went out to shred leaves. Backing over leaves with the rough mower shreds them up pretty good. We sent the rental back a couple weeks ago and ours has been in the repair shop since August. Eleven feet of blades shreds a lot more leaves than 5 ft.

While shredding near the driveway to the clubhouse. A doe ran behind me around 10 AM . . . wasn't more than 50' tween us. At lunch the other guys saw as may as 4 in groups running around the course. Tuesday AM while we were re-arranging and cleaning the shop, we saw a couple doing it. Don't see that very often on a golf course and in open, daylight. We had deer running around all over the course all eek. Tuesday PM, I was mowin #12 and had a doe run across the fairway in front of me. If she was going full speed she was close to it. Took about 3 steps getting across with her head down and ears back. Nothing seemed to be chasing her. She was all alone.

Didn't work today, cause it was just too cold. Doesn't get anywhere near the predicted high temps till about quittin time. I may or may not work Friday. This is my last week anyway. The rough ought to be cut one more time, but we have no rough mower. In about 2 wks., I will probably begin wondering why I'm living around here instead of somewhere a bit milder this time of year.
