Today's Photo -- Guardian Angel
I decided I better get some work done on the latest Guardian Angel I'm making. I make them and give them to people experiencing very serious situations. I've made too many this year.
The photo above shows the angel before I applied the copper foil. It still has the cut out pattern glued to most of the pieces and is laying on a line drawing of the angel. The idea is to get the parts as close to the shape on the line drawing as possible. It is like making a jigsaw puzzle.
One day last week I 'rough cut' the glass to its approximate shapes. On another day I ground the glass to it finished shape. At this point I probably have about 2 to 2-1/2 hrs invested.
After about an hour or so of 'foiling, this is the finished product. It is ready to be soldered together and cleaned. That will happen another day. I drank a cup of real coffee this AM. You know what happens when you aren't used to real coffee. I had enough problems for one day applying the foil. Stain glass require patience and steady hands.
The reason I'm going to solder on another day, is that I couldn't get the garage warm enough to work out there comfortably. I 'foiled' on the kitchen counter. I really miss having a basement to do stuff like this. I won't soldering in the house because there is smoke and odors to deal with.
I'll blog some photos when I finish my project.
