Well, I guess Irene was important if you lived near her, BUT . . . I sure got tire of the splash by splash, gust by gust coverage mighty fast!!!
Was at Walmart a few days ago and purchased a box of cereal and jar of peanut butter. I was wanderin along the aisle of cash registers lookin for one with a short line. Didn't see anything promisin. The nice lady at the jewelry counter saw me and waved me over. She said she would take my money. I never knew you could do that, pay for cereal and peanut butter at the jewelry counter. Wow, what will they think of next????
On the way to and from work, I usually see a young deer munchin away at some farmer's soybeans. Sometimes there are 3 or 4 in that field eating. Anyway this particular deer wags his tail at around 55 wags per minute. It is something to see. I've never noticed tail waggin deer before . . . and I see plenty of deer around here.
It was another disgusting week of mowin. Monday, I was about a half hour into mowin the rough when I noticed a problem with one of the castor wheels on the middle deck. So I got on the little Toro and mowed around the clubhouse, etc. No problems with that mower. When I was done, I got on the mower that we use to mow the 'intermediate' strip along the fairways. I knew it was touchy about starting. I was almost done when it stalled on me and wouldn't start. After about 462 tries, it started. Gotta be a loose wire somewhere. So I had problems with 2 of the 3 mowers I used Monday.
Wed. I was back on the big Toro soon after the UPS guy brought the new wheel. Someone else got to use the little Toro on the rough Wednesday & Thursday.
Thursday, one of the belts slipped off the pulleys after about mowin 50 feet first thing in the mornin. It has been a chronic problem.
Friday, shortly after lunch the belt slipped again. I smelled it gettin hot for a change. Usually I see it after it starts smokin. I took over for the mechanic who was mowin tees and approaches. At quittin time Lynn, out mechanic was still in town lookin for parts.
Since we had tournaments Saturday and Sunday, they wanted me to come in Sat AM to finish the rough with whatever mower was workin. Got to work plenty early cause I figgered I would be usin the little Toro till the golfers caught up with me. Believe it or not the big Toro was ready and rarin to go. Lynn found the right bearings that need replacin. It was very chilly and I didn't bring my jacket. Took me a few minutes less than 2 hrs. to finish everything. It was nice, chilly mowin . . . very foggy and a heavy dew . . . very easy to see my tracks.
Tomorrow, we start at 7 AM instead of 6:30. No more 5:30 wake ups for a long time!!!
