I needed something to do away from my house, so I grabbed my camera and headed south.
I was kind of surprised to see the farmers working in their cornfields. But after thinkin about it a bit, I realized that the night time temperatures have been in the teens lately and with big tires with lugs and posi-traction, the ground should be solid enough drive on. A couple grain elevators I passed were open and receiving grain also.
I headed south till I got to the Maumee River, then turned west, stayin on the north side. The Maumee is still on the high side but not out of her banks.
I tried to stay as close to the river as the roads would allow. Passed some really old farm buildings.
At one point I was on a one lane gravel road. Not many gravel roads left in this part of the state. Got to wonderin about what I was gettin myself into. It was nothing but trees, steep drop-offs on each side of the road and solid ice in spots. I spotted this 'monster tree' near the roadside. The trunk must have been 5 feet or more in diameter. Fifteen or twenty feet up these large branches went out nearly horizontal. I thought is was a very impressive tree. None of my photos were able to begin to convey it's size.
Saw couple horses that were beggin to be photographed. Don't think I've ever seen a white workhorse. He was HUGE!!
