January Ramblins . . .

Crane

A couple days ago, I spotted something new on the Bryan sky line, a crane.  Upon further investigation, I figgered out that this crane was replacin hac units on one of the downtown buildings.

At the post office today, I noticed that the clerk had bright green fingernails with black lines, sort of lookin like barbed wire.  I asked if she 'painted' her nails or if it was a decal.  She said used decals.  She agreed that the lines did sort of look like barbed wire.  I said that the barbed wire was good, no one will be messin with you with barbed wire on your nails.  She is usually very solemn and serious, but she laughed herself to tears.

Ever hear of zeitgebers???  I'm not sure I can say it, but I did spell it correctly.  A zeitgebers is an event in nature that tells the time of year.  A weekly newspaper says that zeitgebers for this week include increasing frequency of cardinal and titmouse song in the AM, the occasional call of a blue jay, the appearance of pileated woodpeckers at feeder as nesting time gets underway.  Well, I'm not one to get up to go outside to listen for the cardinal, titmouse and bluejays, but I have seen the the pileated woodpecker at the birdfeeder this week.  One day he had to fight off a flock of sparrows.  Had no idea that the pileated woodpecker nested so early.

Sent a set of dog themed cookie cutters to the United Kingdom this week.  The lady had asked me to mail them ASAP cause she wanted them for 'her puppy's puppy shower.'  I almost always get things in the mail same day or next day without knowin why you bought them . . . . a puppy shower?????  And I sometimes think I have no life . . .

And speakin of havin no life . . . I've always wondered what marshmallows were made of and how they are made.  I was wanderin around in a grocery store recently when that thought popped into my head.  So I picked up a bag and looked at the ingredient list.  I can't remember what the ingredients were.  Lot of good that did me.  Sometime I will see if google can help me figger out how they make

 foggish drizzle

This is today . . . a foggish, drizzly day so far.  They say it is goin to start snowin later this PM.

Decided to plant a chocolate themed garden this year, complete with cocoa bean shell mulch.  Ordered some seeds this weekend from a couple places.  Got my chocolate habanero and sweet chocolate pepper and chocolate striped tomato seeds already.  The chocolate habanero is very hot, 300,000 Scoville units of heat, and has a warning to use it in moderation.  I googled Scoville units and found that the hottest pepper is around a million units.  Common pepper spray is around 2-3 million units.  Never bein pepper sprayed, I'll take the article's  word on it.
