MINI Cooper Fixed . . .

My MINI Cooper was recalled. Seems that the coolant pump for the turbocharger had a tendency to catch fire. Car fires are not good. One is very lucky and fortunate to put out a car fire before the car is destroyed. Anyway, the BMW/MINI dealers in the area are Detroit, Grand Rapids and Columbus. I decided to go to Columbus because it is the closest.

It started rainin almost as soon as I got the the Bryan city limits. That meant I had to use the windshield wipers. Nothin seems simple or logical to me when it comes to the controls on this car. The fact that I don't drive it much doesn't help my retention when I do figger somethin out. I have somethin like 21 toggle switches & buttons . . . honest !!! Anyway I got the wiper switch figgered out ok. I'm pretty sure I will hafta re-figger out the controls next time I drive in the rain. Comin back, my windshield fogged up. I had to stop, get the owner's manual out to figger out how the defroster works. It has it's own special button. I think this was the first time I needed the defroster. Told ya I don't drive it much . . .

Went down St Rt 127 to St Rt 33. Saw the windmills for the first time tween Paulding and Van Wert. Can't recall how many there are, but I'm sure there over a 100. Must've been a very busy place when they were constructing them. The maintenance people hafta be in good shape climbin to the top to service the equipment or they will soon succumb to heart attacks. Too rainy and foggy for pictures. That seemed to be the case all day. Saw some interesting things too shoot. There was the 10-12 ft arrow stuck in the ground. Didn't see any other signs. Thought there would be an archery shop and/or range near by. Then there was a smaller size self propelled combine with a tow hitch on the back. Why don't they just drive it. Wouldn't think one would want to tow something like that much faster than one could drive it.

Spring flowers are at their peak right now. Van Wert was especially impressive. Got me ta thinkin . . . It is just past the middle of March. There won't be many flowers till the annuals and early perennials start bloomin . . . and that could be a couple months in the future.

Saw some fields that had been worked in Mercer County. Even though the ground is gettin pretty warm, I think I would be pretty leery about plantin anything for a couple, three weeks, but I'm not a farmer.

Thought about what I should do if the MINI caught fire while takin it to be fixed. Figgered my insurance guy should be the one. He is probably going to want to see it and I would need a ride back to Bryan anyway and he is married to one of my cousins . . .

For a little car, a turbocharged MINI is quick!! Passed a couple slower vehicles on 4 lane sections of the highway. One time I was over 85 and didn't realize it and still had plenty of pedal left.

When I got to the dealership, I was wonderin if they would have a fire hose and a couple extinguishers near the MINI Cooper parkin area. They didn't, but I bet they would have if one caught fire in their lot.

While waitin for the repair, I decided to use the men's room. I found it and went in. I was expectin to see a urinal or two . . . I didn't!! I'm thinkin 'WHOA, I'm in the wrong one, but I'm sure the sign said MEN. I went back out to check. I was in the right one. I didn't ask anyone about urinals. I've heard that MINI Coopers are sometimes thought of as 'Chick Cars,' but I'm thinkin that lack of urinals might be goin a bit far. BMW's are sold there and I've never heard anything like that about BMW's. But what do I know????
