I traveled to a neighboring town and saw this . . . Yep, pink flamingos . . . and this is definitely NOT Parma, Ohio . . .
Friday morning I was sitting in my truck reading a newspaper waiting for a 9 AM sale to open. The people were moving things to the driveway using the "people" door. Someone opened the garage door about a foot. As soon as the door moved, a lady jumped out of her van. She "froze in her tracks" when the door stopped. As everyone was snickering at her, she said, "well, I thought they were gonna open." A few minutes later everyone started getting out of their vehicles and moved toward the garage. I got out too, saying, "I can't let you guys get a head start on me." They made us wait a few more minutes before they officially opened. The lady that jumped out of her van must have known exactly what was going to be sold. She grabbed a price tags off a couple larger items. As soon as the door went up the garage was crammed full of women with large purses. I've seen those big purses used as weapons at other sales.
I took this pic from the safety of my truck as I was leaving.
It was a disgustingly chilly and weekend. I was pretty sure I wasn't gonna last long at a local outdoor auction, so I motored to Limber's Auction Barn Saturday AM. It wasn't very warm there because they had one of the overhead doors open. At least it wasn't windy. I came home with quite a few items, including some Magnalite cookware. I'm thinkin I shoulda went one more bid on the Magnalite roaster, but I didn't. Probably better to wish I would've went one more bid than come home wishin I would have stopped . . .
For some reason there weren't many people there. A couple of ladies won $2 choice box lots. We had to wait till they decided what box they wanted. It was like they were bidding for the sake of bidding, then didn't know what to do when they won. There were a couple wagons of box lots that were goin for a couple bucks. They same guy bought 50+ off one wagon and 70+ off the other wagon. I know some people buy stuff like that at auctions and make pretty good money selling the stuff at garage sales. Maybe that what he was planning.
On the way home, I noticed gas was a whopping twenty cents cheaper than Bryan, so I topped off my tank. I also stopped at an Aldi's grocery store. I discovered sweet potato chips. I have no idea how long they been makin these chips. I bought a bag. Pretty good. . . cut thick, not at all greasy with a sweet potato flavor. Overall Saturday went well for me.
Things weren't going well for this guy. This was maybe 3/4 of a mile from my house. The ditch isn't wide, but it is steep, deep and kinda close to the pavement.
