It's 'Tire Spinnin Time' . . . .

Ever have a spell where it seems like everything ya do doesn't work out.  I'm in a week long tire spinnin spell.  I'm goin through the motions and thinkin stuff through, but I accomplishin very little.

A few weeks ago, a cousin told me about this bank in Hudson IN that was robbed by John Dillinger.  Back then it was called the Farmer's Merchant Bank.  It has since been turned into a restaurant.  Used to be called Dillinger's, but when I got there, the name had been recently changed to the Gangster's Grille.  Unfortunately for me and for whatever reason, it was closed the day I was there.

Gangster Grille

This is the pic I took of the outside.  Inside there used to be (??) framed newspaper articles and photos of the robbery.

Hudson IN tank

This is the water tank in Ashley IN.  I think the bow tie is a nice touch. Ashley and Hudson are practically next to each other and are both small towns of a thousand people or less.  This is where I saw the new Family Dollar and Dollar General stores side by side. It was a nice hour or so drive, but I didn't get to see the inside of the bank that John Dillinger robbed and went home hungry.

Over the weekend I was searching for a 13/16" forstner drill bit.  Ended up going to Ft. Wayne to get one.  Tried it out Monday.  Not gonna work for what I thought I needed it for.  The trip was a waste of time.  Don't know why the directions suggested a forstner bit.  A twist drill bit is what I need.  Maybe the local Sears Hardware has one that big . . . No one else in town has one.

Been sellin a lot of cookie cutter sets the last week or so.  I used to re-order every month but had not needed to since spring.  Got to the point, finally, where I was gettin low on certain sets.  So I put together an order over the weekend.  They should be here tomorrow or Thursday for sure.  When I order, I usually have a serious run on a particular set or two as soon as I place the order.  This time was no different.  Saturday PM, I had 9 sets of the 7 pc. dog house set and now I have three.  Oh, well.  I sold the last remaining sets of the football cutter about three days after I listed them.  Got a new supply comin in this week.  I will be getting a supply of the set of hand tools cutters too.  I ordered a couple sets last spring and they went pretty quick.  Sold my first set of Halloween cutters today.  They are going to Australia . . . where else???  Halloween is a big holiday down there and I send quite a few there.

I'm in charge of setting up my high school class's breakfast get-togethers.  Sunday I was sending out reminders, etc. for the next one in September.  Wouldn't ya know it, I left a page out of the updated roster info.  It was easy to fix, just send another email.  I'm pretty sure I had all three pages in the snail mail envelopes.  Too many pieces of paper to keep track of.  Maybe I should do snail mails one day and the emails another day . . .

This morning I had a few cookie cutter sets to process and get into the mail.  A couple were going out of the country and I have to process them differently than the US ones.  Wouldn't you know it . . . My label addressing program disapeared from my computer !!  Have no idea how or when.  Had to dig out the disk and re-install it . . . and of course it isn't working as effecient as the previous installation.  Took me way longer to get those two sets ready to go.

Yesterday I decided to turn a pen out of acrylic.  When I got to the put together stage, I discovered the tube in the kit was the wrong length.  More wasted, unproductive time.  At least the acrylic I used turned out to be really ugly.

Big sunflowers

Was thinking about what I'm gonna transplant and change for next year's flower beds when it hit me that the sunflowers I planted did reasonably well.  Just about every year that I can remember I plant sunflowers.  Just about every year except a couple, they don't do well.  This year I planted some of the tall ones and they did reasonably well, when practically everything else did poorly.  I'm estimating the tallest are 11'-12' tall. Thought I better mention something that worked . . .

This isn't meant to be a blog post of complainin.  Just a few things where I've spun my tires to the point of smokin things up pretty good.
