After a rain delay of an hour or so, I went to work and mowed. The weather people were talkin about steady winds of 20-30 mph with gusts of around 45. I think the steady winds were closer to 30 while I was out there. Shortly after noon the winds got really strong. Glad I tied myself to the mower seat with bungie cords. I stopped and watched a pine tree bob around in the wind. If it wasn't leanin before today, it is now. I thought sure it was gonna go over. Pines don't have a deep root system. Even though the temp reached the 60's, I wore my carharts all day .
Talked to a couple people here and there after work . . . They seemed surprised that we were mowin today. As long as you were fastened to the mower, it wasn't bad.
Read a couple hints in Heloise's column recently. One lady said she always carries a folded plastic bag in her purse. Says she uses it as a rain hat when the need arises. So if you see a lady with a plastic bag on her head runnin around in the rain, it may be her or someone who took her hint to heart.
Another hint that sort of caught my eye was about tape and plastic wrap. It said to use a bit of tape to get hold of the plastic wrap when you can't get hold of the edge. I sometimes have problems with tape that sticks to the roll and I can't get hold of it even with my pen knife. Anybody have any ideas how to help me on those 'bad tape days?" It really get aggravatin.
How about that 13 yr old kid from Marysville OH . . . He was watchin his sister make candles with those "girly" scents. He came up with a better idea. He started sellin ManCans with manly scents. He has sawdust (anything but walnut - makes me sneeze), new baseball mitt, grandpa's pipe and bacon. I think he's on to somethin. There more, ambitious creative kids out there than people think.
