Still Dry . . .

No rain over the weekend, just 90+ degree, sunny, windy weather.  I am very glad I wasn't workin in it.  I basically kept myself in the house all weekend.  I haven't forgotten last June where it was in the 90's way too many days and I was mowin with a trim mower because the rough mower was 'in the shop.'

yellow
On the way out to my startin place first thing this mornin, this patch of yellow caught my eye. One would hafta be nearly blind not to notice it.  The boss planted wild flowers in a couple natural areas a couple years ago.  This one is a 'sea' of yellow coreopsis.  They weren't bloomin like this when I went by there last Friday.  The bare trees are dead Ash trees.

All the rain this mornin went to the south and east of here.  I had .04" in the rain gauge this afternoon.

shelter

It did try to rain mid mornin.  If I would have taken my rain gear with me, I would have mowed in the drizzle.  When the drops got big, I parked myself under a near by shelter for 10-15 minutes.

geese

Most of the young geese aren't quite ready to fly, so everyone walks around and there is very little flyin goin on.  So when they hear me comin, everyone walks quickly to a nearby pond.  It is sort of like a fire drill.  A few more weeks, usually the first of July, they will be molting and won't be able to fly very well.  That's when we have hundreds of geese walkin around.  We try all kinds of things to get them to move on.  They leave a heck of a mess.  With so many geese around, I wonder why they are still so closely protected.
