100+ Degrees and Custom Turned Pens . . .

The temperature has been 100 here for the last hour or so.  That meant I HAD to go for ice cream . . . AGAIN !!.  By my unofficial count, it has been at least 100 degrees here at least 7 times.  Wish my furnace could blow hot air like Mom Nature was today.

My big orange tabby cat, Simon, loves to have his tummy rubbed.  I think I could spend a significant amount of time each day rubbin his tummy and he would want more.  He just almost always automatically rolls over on his back when I walk by in case I want to rub his tummy.  Earlier this PM, I came into the house.  He rolled over onto his back, stretching.  I automatically reached down pat his tummy, like I'm trained to do.  He must have been more asleep than awake, cause when I made contact . . .  I never knew a cat could jump so high from a startin position of layin on his back.  Then with one giant leap, he was into the next room.  Good thing I keep his claws reasonably clipped!!  Anyway he comes back to with a 'why did you do that' look.  I have noticed that Simon seems to be a pretty heavy, sound sleeper.  After this PM, I have no doubt about that he takes sleepin real serious.

Been makin ink pens from Elk antler lately.  Bought the antlers at an auction earlier this summer.  I was able to get a set of moose antlers also.

This is a chrome 30 caliber replica bullet twist pen.  This hardware even has a copper tip.  I really like this one.  I was able to drill the antler and turn it so that some of the exterior of the antler is visible (lower photo).  That doesn't always happen.  This pen is one of my favorites.  I have this one and a few other listed on Etsy.  Click on the blue Etsy if you want to see the others.  I will be adding more every so often.

This pen isn't for sale.  It is a twist pen and has a soft touch stylus on the top end.  It is great for touch screen stuff, like ipads, phones, etc.  It doesn't feel flimsy like those cheap little styluses you can get at Walmart.  With it bein a pen too, it is just the thing if you are doin a lot of writing and ipad work.  I made the body from a piece of elk antler.  As you can see I wasn't able to leave much of the exterior.  I have one more stylus kit on hand.  I'll make it up and put it on Etsy when I decide how I want to make.  If you are interested in a pen of a specific style and/ or material, send me an email and maybe we can work something out.
