And The Heat Goes On . . .

It is 103 in Bryan as I type this.  The third day of 100+ temps.  Tomorrow is expected to be over 100 once again.  At least I got .03" of rain and no wind yesterday afternoon.

Came home from the dentist a couple hours ago and the air conditioner was blowin warm air.  I shut it off for a while and started it up a few minutes ago.  It is blowin cool air now.  Better get it checked out next week.

While I'm sort of on the topic of dentists . . . Are those hygienists normal ? ? ?  I mean who wants to be diggin around in people's mouths all day ? ? ?

Came home from work yesterday and found Simon, my cat, in the bathroom, layin on a pile of toilet paper, lookin excessive pleased with himself.  I always have it in the holder so the end is closest to the wall.  That way he can't unroll it with his paws.  He must have pulled enough off the roll with his mouth until he had enough to lay on.  Guess the throw rug isn't enough padding for him.

Yesterday, I was on our Toro Sidewinder trim mower trimmin around bunkers.  That was the first time I've driven this one.  When I was mowin at Redtail about 10 yrs. ago.  I mowed with a Sidewinder almost every day.  It was the fifth bunker and I was trimmin one of the "ears."  I was headed downward into the bunker.  I went as far as I could and it was time to back out.  Well . . .  the pedals are a bit different than the mowers I have been usin.  Instead of the reverse pedal, I punched the forward pedal and went down into the bunker.  I had to drive out through the bunker.  No harm done.  I just had to rake most of the bunker by hand.  Guess I needed some strong reinforcement as to exactly where the reverse pedal is on the Sidewinder.

I have Saturday off.  I gotta get up early and go mow greens Sunday AM.  I'll be done by 8 AM.  Been goin in extra early this week and mowin till lunch or till I'm done mowin what ever I'm supposed to be mowin.  A couple of guys usually stay all day to keep the greens and fairways cool and wet.  They can turn brown in a hurry and if they dry out, they may stay brown.  I think we are at the point or really close to the point of usin more water from the pond than the well can replenish.  I heard the boss talkin about shuttin off some of the sprinkler heads on the drivin range to conserve water.  All the ponds are low and smell bad from the algae.  They really need to be cleaned out.

Putnam County was hit hard last week with the wind storm.  Still a lot of people without electricity.  We heard that one golf course is havin water hauled in, another hired the local fire dept. to bring water and one found a generator powerful enough to run their irrigation system.  Those guys are tryin to keep their golf course alive and probably have serious problems at home to deal with too.

The air conditioner is blowin warm air again.  Maybe I'll try it again late tonight.  After all is 103 out there.  The radar map is showin some small 'popup' storms in the Ft. Wayne area.  Seem to be comin up from the southeast today.
