Lester's Sign

Photobucket

A couple weeks ago I blogged about Lester's Diner in Bryan. I mentioned the fact that my brother said that Lester's sign was used in the tv program, "Mel's Diner', back in the '70. Well this past week I was eating breakfast there again and the owner was working the cash register. I don't see much of him during the morning hours. He came to my booth with the coffee pot and I asked him about it. He said it was true. They took most of the day shooting it. He also said it took him five Sundays to get a decent shot of it with his movie camera. He set the camera on a tripod in front of his tv and let it run. This was before VCR machines were around and if they were, they weren't cheap!! So the rumor is true. That is Lester's sign on the tv program.

Two of the sign's letters weren't working when I took this shot. The opposite side of the sign had the same problem. This photo is the first I have taken at night with my Olympus SP-570UZ. I used the night scene mode and did not use a tripod or monopod. I drink decaffeinated coffee.
