The past few days have been really 'Blah.' I went to an auction Saturday AM, but could tell I wasn't gonna stay long even before I looked at anything. I just didn't have any patience. There wasn't anything there for me anyway. Sort of a wasted trip. Couldn't think of anything interesting to do, so I didn't do anything interesting. Sunday was more of the same. I did try to put a coat of paint on the privacy fence in the back yard, but the wind was drying out the paint in my pan so quickly that I gave up.
On Monday AM I stopped at the corner gas station for my coffee and paper. When I got to the cash register, I discovered that I had not put my wallet or loose change in my pocket. So that was a trip back home. After that fiasco, I got to work ok. I've been looking for a box measuring about 12 x 12 x 10. I have a 4 qt. Faberware tea kettle to sell on eBay. I asked Lynn, our Legendary mechanic what I could break today that would require a part coming in that size box. The boss heard me and found the box I needed real quick. We've spent over $2000 for replacement parts for that stupid mower this season and no one likes to hear about anything breaking. I got my box (maybe it was the way I asked) and nothing has broke so far this week on my mower. Every one is happy. Got home and checked my email. Had a heck of a time getting online. When I did, I couldn't stay online. So I finally gave up and called the communications dept. Mike came out a few minutes later. Told him I had similar problems last fall. He checked out the box on the side of the house. He ended up replacing everything in that box. He hooked me up direct till the next day. That meant I had all the movie channels etc. for the evening. No internet problems since then and my tv picture has improved about 249%. While talking to Mike, I discovered that he works weekends at the golf course. Wanted to know if I was the Mike that sends the jokes over to the shop. I am the one. Sometimes the boss calls people in to look at the stuff I send.
Tuesday, I knew I was in trouble when I woke up. I was super tired and stiff. I have to work out regularly now. I don't think I'm quite ready for 3 sets this week. Maybe next week. It was a long, long day. When I got home I basically did what I had to do and went to bed.
Had an interesting encounter with a young squirrel yesterday AM. I was mowin beside the 5th fairway. I can't recall seeing squirrels in that area. That area shows little growth this time of year and with the sun shining very brightly, making it difficult to follow my tracks. I noticed some movement and looked. This young squirrel was running about 70 mph directly toward my mower. My first thought was that he was going to run under one of the decks and it wasn't gonna be pretty, if you know what I mean. At the last second, it stopped, turned and ran the opposite way and up the nearest tree. I don't know if it was playing 'chicken' with me, some of his friends dared him to make a run at me or if he got confused and ran toward the big loud machine instead of away from it. Any of you have any ideas???
There was a huge barn fire a couple miles from the course. The smoke was 'boiling' up above the tree line. It was something to see. The smoke finally made its way to where I was and I could smell it for a while. There was very little wind or breeze at the time. While the fire was going on, a good sized blimp went by. It was probably one of the Goodyear blimps. It was heading east. It isn't unusual to see blimps in the area.
This AM I felt even more tired. And of course no bad weather materialized so I could go home early. But for whatever reason, as the day progressed I became less tired. I worked out again this PM, but did only 2 sets. I even mowed part of my yard when I got home. Have to wait till morning to see how the ole body feels. At least I only have about 3 hrs of mowin and will be done till Monday. There was a dead raccoon behind the 14th green and I noticed the mole traps set around the 12th green. The skunks have started digging in the 12th fairway and 13 tees looking for grubs to eat. It is that time of year.
Yesterday the radio station was playing a goofy commercial. It was about tininitus (chronic ringing of ears). The product that was supposed to cure it is called quietus. Not sure if it was a real commercial and product or not. They played it several times, and I didn't hear it today.
The happenings of the past few days seem to fit a ramblin blog about nothing in particular, don't they????
