Kaaaaa . . . . THUNK !!!!

Today is August 3. First day of high school football practice in Ohio. Also first day of high school golf practice. I'm more familiar with golf cause I spend a lot of time on the golf course (mowin it, not playing golf). Almost every day since school was out for the summer, there were high school age kids playing. I'm thinking that Bryan should have a pretty good golf team this fall. I had not noticed as many kids playing in past summers as I have this summer. About noon today I noticed a bunch of high school age kids on the driving range. The Bryan coach was having tryouts today and probably tomorrow. About an hour later they began teeing off. I was trying to mow tween the first tee and the fairway. I decided to mow elsewhere for a while. When I came back I saw guys hitting from the middle of every fairway except the one they were playing. I realize that I'm probably not going to notice the better players. Toward the end of my day, I found myself mowing the rough at the far end of the 7th fairway on the north side of the creek. There were three young kids trying to reach the green. One kid hit an iron shot that went nearly straight up and about 50 feet out. On his next shot I was mowing toward him and was on his right. Less than a hundred feet between us. I stopped to let him hit because I was really close to him, but not tween him and the green. He hit it nearly straight up again. It finally came done on the canopy of my mower -- Kaaaa . . . . THUNK !!!! I really don't think he is going to make the team this year. This kid's shot ranks up there with some of the unbelievable shots I've witnessed. I decided to quit about 20 minutes early cause I didn't feel all that safe after seeing what I was seeing -- and it was very difficult not to bust out laughing.
