Most exciting thing was the winning instant lottery ticket I bought yesterday. Got $2 coming. Haven't cashed it in yet. Still savoring the thrill of winning.
I've noticed the geese moving around a lot in the AM and again in the evening. It's like they are training twice a day for the southern migration flights. The swallows are still around. They usually pretty much disappear during August and September.
My wayward amaryllisses are bloomin again. I have three pots with 7 bulbs. I started with one in each pot, but they have multiplied. I ought to separate them. I wonder how many people get 2 blooms each year.
This stalk will eventually have 4 blooms on it.
Three or fours years ago, a friend gave me some hisbiscus seeds. She was having a difficult time getting them to germinate. Seeds with hard shells sometimes need to be 'scratched' and/or soaked in water before planting. To make a long story short, I got a couple to germinate. This is the healthiest looking plant I've had so far. I have 7 tall stalks loaded with buds. The flower below is just under 7" in diameter. I need to consider moving it away from the house.
