Went to an auction yesterday after work. First one I've been to since early summer. It was a small one. Only a couple things I was interested in. Of course they were in the area to be auctioned last. Things were selling quickly, so I decided to hang around. The whole auction lasted about an hour and a half. I was interested in the big globe. It must have been 15" in diameter. Don't recall the manufacturer right now. The oceans were black instead of blue. The manual that came with it had a 1958 copyright. My limit was $10.00. It went for $14.00. The other item was a Universal No. 1 food grinder with 3 blades. I bid higher than I should have --$7.00 -- a stack of metal bread loaf type pans were in the lot. The winning bid was $8.00. As I was leaving, the people who won asked me if I was bidding on the pans or the grinder. They wanted the pans and offered me the grinder for a $1.00. Sometimes there is a lot of 'wheeling & dealing' going on after the auctioneer is done. Not the first time I've been a part of the 'after hours' goin ons.
