Photo Exhibit . . .

After yesterday's fiasco with the internet, I spent minimal time with my computer today.

The Allen Co. Library in Fort Wayne began a photo exhibit today, so I thought this was as good a day as any to check it out. This photographer and his wife spent a lot of time scouring Indiana for old houses, business, cars & trucks and even old ornate grave markers. He claims at least 2900 locations. He has published a book, probably a coffee table type book, of his travels and photos. It is the same type of photography I like to do, but don't do enough of. There were probably 40 photos or so in the exhibit. Everything is done in black & white. I like what he had on display, but the black & whites seemed to lack some 'pop.' They seemed faded, like the subjects. That is probably his style. Had a $300 price tag on all of them. I saw lots of potential photos on the way to and from Ft. Wayne, but with all the snow on the ground there wasn't much room to pull off the road without getting stuck.

So today's photo is a laminated utility pole. Every so often I see a few. The one in Bryan is a monster. It is made of many pieces of wood glue together. They set it just after I came to Bryan. It took a couple days just to dig the hole. It was manufactured with the curve in it purposely. They say the weight of the power lines will eventually straighten it. It supports feeder lines coming in to Bryan on the way to a substation. I don't recall why they didn't use a steel pole.
