Area Windmills . . .

Early this mornin I had my monthly appt. with my friendly, neighborhood chiropractor in Archbold.  For some reason I schedule them for 8 AM.  Guess it is to keep me believin that there is activity out there before dawn.  I usually wake up around dawn.   Anyway on the way to my appt., I discovered this windmill in a field a couple miles south of Archbold.

Archbold windmill

It wasn't there last month.  I don't recall reading about it in the local newspaper.  It is a good sized one . . . A lot bigger than the one at Northwest State, the local community college.  The ones near Bowling Green are at least twice as tall.  I have a pic of them somewhere in the blog archives.

Not an award winning photo, but it was the best I could get without walking through people's yards or parking along a busy highway.  I really hate doin either for a pic unless I'm pretty sure I'll be seein it on a magazine cover . . .

Havin a windmill generate your electricity would be nice, but one can  buy a lot of wattage for the $15-20 grand that a residential windmill costs . . .  A nearby school district put one up that cost around a million bucks using grants to pay for it . . . and they estimate it will produce only about 40% of their annual usage.  I sometimes think we are getting this 'green' stuff jammed down our throats . . . but then I'm a pretty conservative, free-market kind of guy . . .
