Some stuff I found out and wondered about this week . . .
Decided I was in need of an omelette this morning. I spotted this Mustang convertible in the parking lot of my omelette restaurant. Guess that means Spring has sprung for sure, right ??? Since I'm on the subject of Mustangs, there was a gun metal gray Mustang convertible on a used car lot this winter. Never noticed that color on a car before. That Mustang wore that color well !!
Have you noticed the length of sales receipts lately. They seem to be gettin longer an longer even if ya buy only a couple things. I'm thinkin about contacting my govt. representative and suggest a law sayin they can't be longer than a dollar bill. It is very difficult to get a couple bills and a too long receipt into my wallet quickly and efficiently. I get everything in there, but it usually ends up in a wad.
As you may or may not know or even care, Cupid's Darts (Catananche) are one of my favorites. It is a perennial. For whatever reason I cannot grow it successfully here. Never been able to get them to survive the winter. So, instead of purchasing plants this year, I ordered a packet of seeds. I lucked out (for a change) and ordered on a day that their $2 packets were half price, so I ordered 2 packs. Don't know if growin them from seeds is gonna be any different, but I'm gonna have lots of Cupid's Darts this summer.
This is a Cupid's Dart, one of my better photos.
The lady from Australia that had me post a set of Christmas theme cookie cutters so she could buy them recently got back to me with a question that I didn't have the answer. Said she was gonna make a batch of cookies from one of the recipes that I include with each order. Wanted to know if a cup was 250 ml and something about what a stick of butter equals in metric. I referred her to a conversion web page. I just sell the stuff. I rarely am an expert at using the stuff I sell.
I try to be on top of things, but this one got by me. Somewhere along the line, some official soundin organization (so official soundin that I have forgetten it's name) has decreed that two space tween sentences is no longer necessary. It seems that fonts used by computers are proportional and that fonts on typewriters are not. So since typewriters are rarely used, it is quite permissable to leave a single space tween sentences. Don't know if I'll ever be able to train myself to one space tween sentence . . . so I guess that officially makes me an 'Old Fogie.'
Decided to do some stuff in the garage over the weekend. Lit the kerosene heater to take the chill off things. I've had a pen on the lathe all winter. It has been there so long that I don't remember which hardware set it fits. That will be a real treasure hunt. Anyway I decided to give it one more coat of finish. I turned on the lathe to polish it. Would you believe that conditions were perfect enough to generate static electricity . . . It got me three times VERY GOOD before I could react. I don't have any 100 % cotton rags, so I decided that maybe I should find something else to do.
Read about a quick thinkin bank teller and another dumb bank robber. The teller told the robber that she had to have 2 pieces of identification to make a withdrawal. So she made copies and returned the id's with some money. The cops went to his house later that day and arrested him.
